I'm wondering if any of you network, and if so what type of networking do you do? I have a friend who is an appraiser who joined a local business association and has found it to be very helpful. Has anyone tried this?

Networking is key to real estate business. It's all about who you know rather than what you know. If you don't know something but know someone who does then your in business!

Especially for new appraisers, it is really important to network with people and businesses where there might be potential clients. Networking in the digital age makes it a bit easier to gain new clients from accross the country. I would suggest digitally networking, by advertising your company and your company's website on a few online appraiser directories. Most of these online directories are very inexpensive considering the ROI. I can list my self in 10 counties for 1 year for under the cost of 1 appraisal, but you will get atleast 1-2 jobs per month from listing yourself with these online directories. It is a no-brainer for me.

Networking is key. You can get 1 Loan Officer and get his/her loans or you can get the Office Manager and get all of the Loan Officers' loans. I would suggest also doing talks at RE offices. Simply having a quick talk about appraisals will get your foot in the door.
