Digital cameras are fine. You dont need highly professional shots and anyways, most digi cams ARE quite professional.

if you spend around $500 you'll get an excellent camera for the job.

Megan....you will need a digital camera, one that you can download the pix you take so that you can upload them into the Appraisal report software....I use a Cannon powershot A40....have used it for 2 years...no problems.....get rechargable batteries for it and I use a 256 Flash card and carry a 512 card for back up..

Cheap digital Kodak camera with maybe 2 pixels with the software. Ebay always has some, do does Walmart. Good Luck

My main camera is a Kodak v570, backup camera is a Kodak DC240. I use the v570 primarily for the wide angle option.

A free camera is always the best camera :) My supervisor gave me a camera.

Personally, I like Cannon or Sony.

Fuji Film fine pix are pretty good cameras. This is what I use. It's got a few years under its belt, but it's still a good camera.

If you are tough on equipment, go the cheap route. I pick old Kodak digital cameras on ebay for a colleague of mine - she goes through a couple of year - but at $40 a piece, it's not a big deal. They get dropped and abused quite a bit, and the older Kodaks seem to handle abuse well.

I tend to baby my equipment, so I only recently had to replace my old Olympus - just shy of the 10 year mark. Bought a new Panasonic Luminix. Much smaller than my old Olympus - it now fits in my pocket. The wide angle really comes in handy for interior shots - especially narrow hallways and bathrooms.

There are a lot of good cameras these days. The digital world has created many choices for different professionals whom use cameras during their course of business. I would definitely suggest a camera with a wide angle feature and, one that is small/compact as well. Finding one that provides personal comfort and reliability may be the best decision when buying a camera.

I will say this, though: I have used several HP cameras in the past and found that they are over priced when compared to their quality.

I bought an Olympus FE-5020 about 6 months ago for just over $100. I have been a full time appraiser for over 40 years and this is by far the best camera that I have ever had. It is super wide angle and takes great pictures. Only negative is that the battery might be more capacity.

I my self use a Nikon d60 that is a 10.2 megapixel digital camera. It has a lot of good functions and takes awesome pictures. use a 18-55 lens for every day pics and then change up to a 70-300 for a telephoto lens for for long range photos as well as panoramic shots. good luck in your adventures...

I'm using a sony cybershot 7.2mp. It was cheap 2 years ago when I bought it and probably even cheaper now if you can find it. Great pics, idot proof, and durable.

Kodak - not sure what the model is but it is only 5 MP. but it has a 10 power zoom and takes my SLR lenses on it as well. It has amazing color repro for a lower end camera and it has worked now for several years with no problems at all.
