How do I go about getting clients? northstar 12-09-2007, 03:16 AM Depending on what state/city your in it probably in different for everybody. Here in CA the is what I do: 1. Focus on getting client outside your area, most companies in town already have a list of appraisers they use. 2. Make a website for your area. Do it yourself or hire a professional, ask for the website to be seo optimized, if you don't know what that means google it. An effective website can generate 100 appraisals a year for you. I know b/c I have one and it works. 3. List your services to free online appraisal directories, there are 10-20 good ones out there for your area. Go to google and search for the ones that best match your services and area. 4. Don't be afraid to talk to other appraisers and get some contractor work. You may not get paid alot of money but remember the experience it what you want not the money. 5. Always take calls, forward your contact # to your cell phone if you out of the office. Most lenders will call 2-5 appraisers, the first one to answer the phone gets the job, it can be that easy. Here is my motto: I would rather have 100 clients order 1-5 appraisals a year than 3 clients order 30+ appraisals a year. The more clients you can get the better. Don't get stuck on trying to land the big deal b/c most big lenders don't want a fee appraiser, they will hire a staff appraisal company to get the work done for 1/2 of your fees. Good Luck. Edward Aiken 02-11-2008, 10:36 PM I agree with Matt. It's better to have 100 clients with 1-5 appraisals then 5 with a lot...especially in slow times. Check out area48network. com for info on how to get clients when you're a trainee. You want to make sure you're not marketing yourself as a trainee but as a licensed appraiser. Many clients will not use you if you are a trainee. Once you get their business and you produce results it won't matter. Jim Graner 02-21-2008, 09:44 PM  I have learned this the hard way. It's better to have 100 clients with 1-5 appraisals then 5 with a lot...especially in slow times. rely_73539 07-15-2008, 06:23 AM One of the most frequent questions that turns up in design forums and lists is how to launch a new design practice and how to get jobs. Usually the same answers float to the surface: Join the Chamber, Use the Yellow Pages, Buy some AdSense ads, Join one of those Portfolio web sites, list in the 'Talent' directories. If you have 100 people reading the forum, you'll get 50 different opinions on what's the best way to bring clients to your doorstep and actually sell them your services. Prospecting does indeed carry very real costs. Designers must be very focused on minimizing those costs, while successfully landing the big ones that will cover not just the prospecting costs but all the overhead costs. Few designers however, tally what their real costs are in job prospecting. It's usually a shock to designer when all the costs are added. Most discover the cost of getting clients takes a good bite out of their profits. Thomas Baine 07-24-2008, 08:49 AM I agree with Matt. Once you get their business and you produce results it won't matter. I would not market myself as a licensed appraiser as that is illegal in most states unless you are of course a licensed appraiser Edward Aiken 07-28-2008, 06:19 PM I would not market myself as a licensed appraiser as that is illegal in most states unless you are of course a licensed appraiser You're right...I should clarify. You do not market yourself as a Licensed Appraiser(AL classification in Ca) but when asked if you are licensed you can answer that yes you ARE licensed with the state as an appraiser. That is true. You can not put your classification as being different in your marketing material as that is misleading and illegal. When I say marketing I'm talking more about when you are talking to clients instead of the actual materials that you present them with. The idea is to then refocus the client on their wants and needs in the industry by getting them to focus on the benefits of your services. Usually you will want to market the benefits and services of what you and your Supervisor can provide them (turnaround time, diligence, communication, etc.)...that way they don't assume that you are inexperienced because you have said you are only a trainee and that is all they hear. Hope that clarified it. QQQ 09-08-2008, 10:45 AM Depending on what state/city your in it probably in different for everybody. Here in CA the is what I do: 1. EmannaZex 06-11-2009, 05:25 PM I have in some areas of my face, especially my forehead, small red spots about 1-2 mm in diameter. They dont feel infected like acne, but might be due to previous acne scars. How do I get rid of them? I just started using Retin-A and Tazorac spelling?. Also, does it make sense to use a moisturizer while using a retinoid? Seems like they serve opposite purposes. How do I go about getting clients? The way of point of view to get what you want is not easy because this means that you are going to force your client to buy your product or services, forcing them in a nice and honest way. Without the power of persuasion, this action might be impossible to take. Truett Neathery 11-08-2009, 07:54 PM to other appraisers and get some contractor work.
